Chesapeake Electrical Systems is proud to be responsible for the complete lighting and communication system for the Capital Beltway HOT Lanes Project, a major revitalization consisting of the most significant improvements to the Capital Beltway since its creation.
The system design features over 500 new street lights, 72 CCTV cameras, 86 microwave detectors, 76 Dynamic Message Boards, 56 reversible gates, nine emergency generators, and over 150 new Roadside Equipment Cabinets to house the critical electrical components of the above systems. Additionally, CES install over 113 miles of new electrical conduit systems and over 216 miles of electrical, fiber optic, and communication cables throughout the 14 miles of construction.
A complex project of great regional importance, the Capital Beltway HOT Lanes Project involves improvements to 14 miles of High Occupancy Toll Lanes in each direction from the Springfield Interchange to just north of the Dulles Toll Road. The project is providing upgrades to 12 key interchanges and replacing aging infrastructure, which includes adding or replacing more than 50 bridges and overpasses.
